Embossing is a printing technique that gives the packaging a unique look. We distinguish between concave and convex embossing. It is mainly used in solid cardboard products, although it is also used in laminated packaging. The pattern to be embossed is raised or pressed on a given surface, depending on the design. The purpose of using this method is to give a three-dimensional effect. Often embossing is done in combination with hot stamping. The result is glossy, three-dimensional design element. Even in a very subdued design, such a simple procedure introduces variety. From the marketing point of view, this technique is an ideal way to distinguish the packaging; it also enhances the aesthetic impression of customers. It is commonly used in cosmetic products and premium spirits.
In addition to standard "straight" embossing, we also use the so-called 3D embossing, i.e. with a conical relief. In this case, the edges of the embossed element are not directed straight upwards, but narrow upwards in a pyramidal pattern.
We also carry out Braille embossing in accordance with the Marburg Medium pharmaceutical standard. This is particularly important for the packaging of all types of medicines or supplements.
It has been assumed that the element is embossed correctly, with a minimum width of 0.4mm. The more, the better and the clearer the embossing effect.
